Aniimo Evolution Guide — All Requirements & Stuck Evolutions

Aniimo creature

Evolution Guide

Quick answer: Aniimo evolve through the Attributes menu (Aniimo Management, PC key P → Attributes → Evolve), and each evolution consumes an evolution stone. Most evolutions stack 3–4 requirements — a level, an Alpha kill, and often a hidden line like a personality tag or an exact location. When you're stuck, it's almost always the hidden line, not the level.

How evolution works

Evolution changes an Aniimo's form, stats and sometimes its role. Requirements are read per-branch from the game tables — there is no universal "level X" chart; each species page lists its own.

The eight requirement types:

TypeExamples from the game
Aniimo level"Aniimo level 39" — on almost every evolution
Defeat an Alpha or Omega"Defeat the Alpha Panpanta"
Exact location"On the giant lotus leaf where the Alpha Leafy resides"
Time or weather"Nighttime", "Snowy", "Beast Fang Ridge, daytime"
Personality"Personality contains [Tenacious]"
Passive talent"Learn passive talent [Unwavering Rampart]"
Acquired potential"Acquired BREAK potential of 6 or higher"
World action"Open 30 chests", "Exchange an Aniimo with a friend once"

An evolution often stacks three or four of these. The Alpha kill is the visible one — the location or personality line is the one that gets skipped.

Every evolution also consumes an evolution stone (Wave Stone, Sprout Stone, Roar Stone, Night Stone, Loam Stone…). Stones are rarely the blocker, but stock up before you travel.

How to evolve — step by step

  1. Open your Aniimo list (P on PC)
  2. Select the Aniimo
  3. Open AttributesEvolve
  4. Pick the target branch
  5. Read that branch's requirements before spending resources

An evolve marker appears on the Aniimo's portrait when it can evolve — but no marker doesn't mean no obstacles; check the menu line by line.

Hidden requirement rules that trip everyone

  • Personality uses "contains" — the Aniimo just needs the tag in its personality, not exclusively. Multi-tag lines need both: [Instinctive] and [Judicious]
  • Passive talent means "Learn" — you must have learned the named talent (via Report Cards), not merely possess it
  • Exact locations trigger on site — you must be standing there when the requirement checks
  • World actions count once — e.g., the one evolution in the game that requires exchanging an Aniimo with a friend only ever needs that single exchange
  • Personality never changes on its own — leveling and evolving don't touch it. Psyche Fruit (shop) changes it, without a warning popup, and can open or close branches

Starter evolutions

StarterLineNotes
HelionFire lineStrong early-game attacker
LunaraLight lineHigh base Attack; Lunar Force boosts final damage 20%

Early lines worth knowing: Emberpup → Flameruff, Celestis → Stellarys, Skippy/Pranky → Glacy (one of the best healers), Budclaw → Shrubclaw or Geoclaw (branching).

Most-reported stuck evolutions

EvolutionRequirements — and the part that stumps players
Pranky → LeafyAlpha Leafy + level 20 + stand on the giant lotus leaf where the Alpha resides — must trigger on site
Geodeback → MinespineAlpha Minespine + level 48 + Loam Stone. The Alpha still exists — it's in Beast Fang Ridge
Fentuft → FenmaneExchange an Aniimo with a friend once + level 42 — the only social-requirement evolution in the game
Wisptis → FulmintisLevel 29 + Fulminous Soul item — no item, no evolution
Helmut → PawneyPull the Sword of Bravery + level 45
Helmut → RookeyLevel 45 + a specific passive talent + defeat an opponent with a Counter in Ballistic Guard
Popota → PanpantaAlpha Panpanta + level 39 + Nighttime + personality contains [Instinctive] and [Judicious] — wrong personality, never unlocks
Pomegg → DazmandAniimo Discovery event quest — can't be done outside the event window

The "level 25" trap

Resonance star 2: the French client says "reach level 25" — the English text and the actual data say 35. Train to 35 and it unlocks. (Stars 3–7 are 35/40/50/60/65.)

Umbral warning

Evolving an Umbral Aniimo removes its Umbral appearance — the game asks you to confirm that the Vein energy will dissipate. The Perfect potential stays; only the look goes. Same warning on form changes.

Squarrel evolution change (patch v1.0.3544783.0)

The Sep 18–19 patch changed the item consumed to evolve Squarrel. The official note reads exactly: "Changed the type of item consumed to evolve Squarrel." — it doesn't name the items.

  • Before the patch: Wave Stone ×1 (confirmed by pre-patch client data, Sep 14–17)
  • After the patch: not published anywhere — the official notes don't say, and no guide has re-extracted the data yet
  • Red line: any guide still showing Wave Stone is quoting pre-patch data. Check your in-game Evolve screen for the current item — that's the only reliable source right now

Squarrel → Squashel is a single-target evolution: level 47 + one evolution stone.

FAQ

Why can't I evolve even though I hit the level?

Read the branch's full list — a location, personality tag, passive talent or world action is probably missing. "Path unlocked" and "this one can evolve" are not the same thing.

Do I lose anything when evolving?

Stats/role can change; Umbral appearance is lost (with a confirm prompt); potential never downgrades.

Is there a level chart for all evolutions?

No — requirements are per-species, listed on each creature's Evolution block. For the full catalog see the Aniimo List.
